Dear Parent/Carers,
Join us for the Preparing for Adulthood event on September 30, 2024, at the St. John Lowther Centre, hosted by North Northamptonshire Parent Carer Voices in collaboration with North Northamptonshire Council, Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, and local service providers. This event will serve as a comprehensive resource hub where you can connect with service providers, engage with local authority representatives, hear personal stories, and participate in various seminars that include dedicated Q&A sessions tailored to your needs. The journey of preparing for adulthood begins in Year 9, when young people are around 13 or 14 years old, but it’s never too early to start this important exploration. This process will extend until they complete their education, whether in school, college, or further education, with transition support available from various agencies until the age of 25. During Year 9, it’s essential for the young person, their family, school, professionals, and local authority representatives to collaboratively discuss the best pathway forward.
